Updated November 24, 2018 11:18:48The NCAAs 2017 preliminary round will take place on Friday, November 25.
In the opening round of the competition, the Panthers will play the Brisbane Broncos.
The Cowboys and Raiders have also qualified, with the Roosters taking on the Titans.
It will be a clash between the premiers and premiership hopefuls, with Melbourne Storm’s Josh McGuire and the Sharks’ Blake Greenley fighting for a spot in the preliminary final.
Broncos coach Johnathan Thurston said the Broncos had “every expectation” of playing in the final.
“We know what the competition is about, it’s about playing a tough game, but we’re looking forward to playing a good game against one of the best teams in the competition,” Thurston told the Broncos website.
“Hopefully we can get out of here with a win.”
If we can go out there and play a good match and make it a good one, then we’ll be happy with it.””
If it doesn’t work out we’ve got plenty of opportunities, we’ve had plenty of games in the last few weeks.
“A win over the Broncos would mean the Roos would finish second in the ladder and secure their spot in finals.
However, the Rabbitohs will be looking to bounce back from a poor showing at the hands of the Cowboys and Dragons in round three.”
The Dragons were playing really well and they’ve been playing really good the past few weeks, so hopefully we can build on that,” Thurst said.”
It’s always a hard task to get a result when you’ve got the opposition that we’ve faced this year, so it’s something we’ve been working on all week.
“Meanwhile, the Storm have already qualified for the finals with a 5-3 win over South Sydney.”
“The Storm are very strong in the back end and I think they’ve shown their strength over the last couple of weeks.”””
It shows the character that they have, so that’s what we’ve worked on and hopefully we’re going to see that from the team.””
