Galicia, Spain – Galicia star footballers Galina Lekic and Elena Kvitova have faced off in the Galician star tournament in Barcelona.
The first of three games took place at the Estadio Santiago Calderon on Sunday (Friday, June 25), and featured the best players in Spain and across Europe.
Kvitovna, who scored a brace in the first half, was a constant threat, with her pace, dribbling and acceleration giving her an advantage in the midfield.
The two Galician stars were also in constant pursuit of each other, with Kvatova often dropping into the channels to find space in behind the defence and Lekics efforts often coming too late to be of any value.
The second game took place on Wednesday (July 1), and saw Lekovic take a late winner in the second half against a lively Barcelona side, and Leki’s equaliser in the final was a header.
The third game saw the two Galicians face off again on Sunday afternoon (Friday), with the first game featuring two of the best in Spain, and with both of them being involved in more than 50 minutes of play.
The Galician team scored four goals and had four assists, while Kvotovna made six clearances and made 11 tackles.
The Galician side, which was also included in the Europa League squad, was led by Kvistova, who completed 92% of her passes.
The Serbian international had the most passes (27), interceptions (eight) and clearances (six) of any Galician.
The centre-back also scored three goals.
In the end, Lekovna scored the decisive goal in the third game, with a brilliant finish to score from 20 yards.
