The New York Times article The Duke basketball team is having its own holiday tradition this year.
The team will play its first NCAA Tournament game of the season Saturday night in front of a packed arena in Durham, North Carolina.
The ACC Tournament and ACC Challenge teams are scheduled to play the Duke basketball program Saturday, Nov. 21, and the Tar Heels are set to play North Carolina on Sunday, Nov 22.

This year, Duke will play host to two ACC Tournament teams.
It’s the first time in the history of the tournament that the Tarheels will play against Duke.
The Tarhees are playing the Duke team’s first NCAA tournament game since a win over Georgetown on Nov. 13, 2013.
There will be an expanded NCAA Tournament field, with teams seeded one through eight, in addition to Duke and UNC.
The top three seeds from the regular season of each conference will advance to the NCAA Tournament.
ESPN’s Scott Strickland reported Saturday that Duke will face Louisville in the ACC Tournament final, while UNC will play the Virginia Cavaliers in the NCAA Challenge final.
The game will be televised on ESPN2 and ESPNU.
Duke is expected to lead the ACC in scoring and rebounding, but the Tar heels are also expected to score more points.
This year’s ACC Tournament will be played at the New York Hilton Garden, the venue of the Final Four, a finalist for the 2017 NCAA Tournament championship.
On Saturday night, the TarHeels are expected to play for their first NCAA title in franchise history.
They have the No. 2 seed in the Atlantic Coast Conference (No. 7 seed Syracuse), the No 4 seed in Atlantic Coast (No: 9 seed Louisville), and the No 2 seed nationally (No.: 6 seed Duke).
NCAA Tournament teams play three rounds of doubleheaders on the road, and a fifth round of four-game playoff will be held in New York.
NCAAC Tournament teams are expected back in Raleigh for the first round of the championship.
